DNR Investigates Illegal Deer Killings

Conservation officers in Michigan are trying to track down whoever’s killing deer in Norton Shores, which is south of Muskegon. Lieutenant Gerald Thayer with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources says they’ve found nearly 20 dead deer in the past few months.

Thayer says most of the deer have been shot outside of hunting season and were shot in the gut, left to wander off to die. All of the meat has gone to waste. He believes the shooter is someone defending flowers or a garden.
