It’s been a busy first quarter for St. Joseph Today. On Monday, Executive Director Amy Zapal gave her quarterly report to city commissioners, saying the St. Joe Welcome Center has had nearly 3,000 visitors this year. She also went over the events the organization’s had the past three months. Zapal tells WSJM News as more activities are held downtown, even in the winter, the area sees more visitors overall.

“As our off season business grows, many visitors stop in at the Welcome Center to find out what’s happening in the area during their visit, and many of them are planning for a future visit,” Zapal said. “So, they might come here for an overnight stay in January and decide to come and stay for a week in July.”

Zapal says big hits in the first quarter included the chili tour, the beer fest, and the ice fest. A busy summer is now ahead of us, with heavy hitters like BBQ, Blues, and Bluegrass and the Lighted Boat Parade on the way. Zapal says they’re always adjusting each event to attract more people while meeting the community’s needs. You can find a list of everything planned for this summer at StJoeToday.com.
