MDOT Suspending Road Work For Labor Day Weekend

The Michigan Department of Transportation is doing what it can to help make the roads easier to travel this Labor Day weekend. Spokesperson Nick Schirripa says they’re suspending most of the construction projects they’ve got going on around the state.

“From 3 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Tuesday, we are lifting a lot of work, a lot of closures for the weekend, but there will still be some in place, including a handful around our region,” Schirripa told WSJM News.

With more than one million people expected to hit the road for the final holiday weekend of the summer, Schirripa says MDOT wants to avoid as many traffic headaches as possible. In some places, like I-94 between Stevensville and Bridgman, there will still be lane closures, but there will be no workers out.
