Van Buren County officials are investigating the cause of a crash that killed a Dowagiac man. They received the 911 call just before 8:00 yesterday morning to find a single car fatality crash in the 70,000 block of County Road 681 in Lawrence Township. They found the 24-year-old man from Dowagiac was dead and the 25-year-old male passenger with non life-threatening injuries. He had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Lawrence Fire Department using the Jaws of Life. The passenger was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Officials report seatbelts were used and alcohol use is not known at this time. Names of the victims will be released pending notification of family.
