The Berrien Springs-Oronoko Township Fire Department is getting a $31,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The money, which comes as part of FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters program, will be used for ventilation equipment and hose replacements. It was announced Thursday by the offices of Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters. Stabenow says it will help ensure the community’s first responders have all of the tools they need to do their jobs in the safest and most efficient way possible. Also getting a grant for the same purpose, of $68,000, is the Kalamazoo Township Fire Department.
