The St. Joseph-Benton Harbor YMCA is teaming up with the Nile-Buchanan YMCA. The 2 announced a partnership this week, saying they plan to share administrative services and other resources to see how each could benefit. St. Joe YMCA CEO Mike Ahern says they’ll keep the partnership is place through January.
“Hopefully, it will be beneficial to enhancing program opportunities at both,” Ahern told WSJM.
Ahern says the partnership is not a merger, but could turn into one. He plans to retire at the end of May, and once he steps down, Niles-Buchanan YMCA CEO Mark Weber will lead both branches for the time being. Ahern says regular members of each YMCA should notice little or no difference in services.
