The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department is once again offering RAD classes to women interested in learning how to defend themselves. RAD stands for Rape Aggression Defense, and the system is designed to teach any woman, regardless of age or size, basic defense moves. It also focuses on awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance. The classes offered by the sheriff’s department are free, and involve 3 evening sessions, each lasting 4 hours. They’re open to all females ages 16 and up. The first one will be April 28, and sets of classes will then be offered over the next 3 months in the Lake Township, Bridgman, Coloma, and Stevensville areas. To register, or to find out more, just call the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department at 269-983-7141, extension 7302.
