Two Fishermen Survive Falling Through Ice In Cass County

Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood is putting out a warning to people throughout southwest Michigan to stay off the ice on any lakes after two fishermen fell through on Saturday. His deputies were called to Bogart Lake in Jones around 1:30 p.m. Saturday and found the first man had crawled out of the water and was taken home by friends before officers arrived. Less than an hour later, they were called to Edwardsburg’s Juno Lake for the same issue. Once again, the fisherman had hoisted himself out of the water and refused treatement by first responders. Sheriff Underwood says the unseasonably warm weather of the past several days has made it unsafe to venture out to ice fish or do anything else on area lakes.
