Two people from Niles reported missing, have turned up dead. Berrien County Sheriff’s deputies say the bodies of 26-year old Steven Rough and 29-year old Autumn Mehl were discovered in a vehicle that was upside down in a creek off of Bond Street. Friends and family reported the pair missing via social media Saturday morning. They were last seen at Jay’s Lounge in Niles late Friday night. Mehl was a Zumba instructor at the YMCA in Niles. Her co-workers are shocked by the news and say Mehl was a sweet, hard working mother of three. Investigators say a volunteer from a search party that went out to look for the pair discovered the car overturned in the water Sunday morning. Police do not suspect foul play. The exact cause of death is pending autopsy results and contributing factors into the crash are unknown as police continue to investigate the case. A vigil to remember Mehl is scheduled for tonight at 7pm outside of the YMCA.
