Reports of attempted phone scams continue to pour in. On Tuesday, we heard from several southwest Michigan residents who had received messages from an individual claiming to be calling in response to actions by the US Treasury. The caller claims that failing to contact them back could result in serious actions, including indictment by a grand jury. Authorities note the IRS and US Treasury do not call people owing back taxes, demanding immediate payment over the phone in that manner. Anyone who gets such call should report it to the IRS at IRS.gov .
