AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have fallen by about 13¢ in the past week. The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $1.53 per gallon on Sunday. That’s about 72¢ less than at the same time a year ago.

According to the auto club, Michigan ranked sixth in the nation for the lowest statewide average daily gas price. The lowest average price was about $1.44 per gallon in the Flint area, while the highest average was about $1.65 in the Marquette area. In St. Joseph and Benton Harbor, our average is $1.52, a drop of 13¢ from last week and down 78¢ from this time in 2015. National petroleum analyst Trilby Lundberg says the low prices will last for a few more weeks, until retailers begin to switch over to more expensive summer blends of gasoline.
