More than a dozen vacancies on various Benton Harbor city boards are now filled, following action at Monday’s city commission meeting. Approved was the appointment of Ron Singleton as the newest at-large commissioner, while commissioners also approved appointments to bodies including the Downtown Development Authority, the Dial A Ride Board, and the Housing Commission. Mayor Marcus Muhammad said he was satisfied.

“One of the things that we wanted to do in the first 100 days is to have a very aggressive agenda to get things done,” Muhammad told WSJM.

In total, 13 people were appointed to 15 positions. The commission had been trying to fill many of the posts for several months. Commissioner Duane Seats added Monday there are more vacancies to fill, including a post on the planning commission. Anyone interested can stop by city hall.
