Thousands Of Consumers Energy Customers Without Power

Thousands of west Michigan residents could be waking up Christmas morning to find they have no power, as high winds and storms on Wednesday knocked down power lines throughout Kent, Ottawa, and Allegan Counties. Consumers Energy Spokesperson Brian Wheeler says some might have to remain in the dark all weekend.

“We are telling people initially, if you’re without power, be prepared for yourself to be without power until Sunday,” Wheeler said.

Hundreds of Kalamazoo and Calhoun County customers also lost power. Crews were struggling to get everyone back online by Christmas, and Wheeler says they’ll be hard at work through the weekend.
