AG Schuette Admits Sending Campaign Email From State Account

Michigan’s attorney general says he’s taking full responsibility for an email he sent to a political fundraiser from his official state account. Bill Schuette says it was a mix-up. Knowingly using state resources for campaign resources is a violation of the state’s campaign finance laws. His office says he sent the email using his personal iPad, which is linked to his state account. Schuette says, moving forward, he’ll use a state-issued iPad to send messages on his state account. The email was released Wednesday as part of a larger response to a Freedom of Information Act request from the liberal advocacy group Progress Michigan.
