Extra Patrols On MI Roads For Thanksgiving

There will be extra patrols out on Michigan roads for the Thanksgiving holiday. Michigan State Police Lieutenant Jim Flegel  says Operation CARE, or Combined Accident Reduction Effort, starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday. Troopers will be on the lookout for those drivers who could be increasing the chances of a crash.

“We look for making sure people are wearing their seatbelts,” Flegel said. “We’re looking at people speeding, impaired driving, careless driving, and distracted driving.”

Flegel says the roads will be busy this Thanksgiving, so it’s important for drivers to be extra alert. Operation CARE is a nationwide effort, organized by state law enforcement agencies. Flegel says they want you to drive safe so you can get home and enjoy the leftovers.
