Legislation To Ban Microbeads Advances In House

Legislation that would ban the use of microbeads in common hygiene products has advanced in the US House. Congressman Fred Upton says manufacturers use tiny plastic beads in their products, and then they wind up in waterways, including the Great Lakes.

The Microbead Free Waters Act of 2015 was approved this week by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Upton hopes it can get a vote by the full House by the end of the year.
