Grand Rapids Mayor Speaks In Support Of Syrian Refugees

The mayor of Grand Rapids is bucking Governor Rick Snyder’s decision to turn away additional refugees from Syria for the time being, but also accepting refugees on their way to Michigan. Mayor George Heartwell is calling on his city and West Michigan to not allow the Paris terrorist attacks to become a witch hunt against innocent people.

Listen:

Heartwell noted during a speech to the Grand Rapids City Commisson on Tuesday that Americans gave up too many freedoms after the September 11th, 2001 terror attacks and that must not allow that to happen again. Snyder, and other governors, were to be briefed this week on updated federal screening procedures.
