The foreign policy of the Obama administration was a major element of a Wednesday night speech by political columnist Charles Krauthammer to the Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan. Speaking before a crowd of more than 1,500 Krauthammer began with the terrorist attacks in Paris, saying it’’s weakness on the part of Obama that has allowed Isis to become powerful.

“This seven years of Obama foreign policy are finally yielding their results,” Krauthammer said.

Krauthammer said foreign policy normally doesn’’t factor much into presidential elections, but he thinks recent events may change that for next year. He speculated that the higher turnout enjoyed by Obama at the polls may not carry over for Hillary Clinton.

“I find it impossible to believe that she will be able to produce the turnout of Obama ,” Krauthhammer said.

Therefore, Krauthammer suggested that a Republican candidate well versed in foreign policy and with a reputation for being tough would be a good pick for nominee. He thinks Ben Carson is unlikely, and same goes for Jeb Bush. If Donald Trump fades away, Krauthammer thinks Marco Rubio may very well wind up with the nomination.
