The first in a series of public workshops regarding the future of downtown Watervliet will be held this weekend. The city and its Downtown Development Authority are embarking on a six month process to reinvigorate the area, and they’re looking for public input on what could be done to attract more people. Wightman and Associates, an architecture firm out of Benton Harbor, is helping in the effort to bring some developments to the downtown. The workshop for the public to come out and offer some thoughts will be held at the Watervliet Fire Department on North Pleasant Street from nine to eleven am. The main goal will be to better develop Main Street, and organizers say that refreshments will be provided at the workshop.
