Upton Touring MI Military Installations This Week

Congressman Fred Upton this week is getting a tour of military installations all across Michigan. He and a group of several members of Congress from Michigan head out Wednesday for a two day trip around the state, checking out bases in Macomb County, Grayling, Alpena and finally, Battle Creek. Upton says that the goal is to better familiarize the lawmakers with the site’s military assets.

The final stop, at Fort Custer in Battle Creek, will also include Governor Rick Snyder. He and the representatives will make their case for the installation to be picked for a new missile defense base. It’s one of a handful of sites for the planned base that would be used to defend the eastern half of the country. It will still be months before the final location is selected.
