The Michigan Department of Transportation has installed some new experimental crosswalk signs around southwest Michigan, including in Benton Harbor. Spokesperson Nick Schirripa says that these signs are attached directly to the concrete in the road in order to be more prevalent.

MDOT will keep the new signs out through the end of November, and then remove them for the winter while Western Michigan University studies whether they actually improved safety. In Benton Harbor, they’re installed at East Main and Fifth Streets, and at West Main and Riverview Drive.
