House Speaker Wants Probe Into Fellow Republican Representatives

Michigan House Speaker Kevin Cotter is calling for an investigation into two fellow Republican representatives. He called for the probe in response to an article by “The Detroit News” blowing the cover off the affair between Representatives Todd Courser of Lapeer and Cindy Gamrat of Plainwell. Courser is heard on audio recordings made by a former aide coming up with a smear campaign against himself to make the affair seem tame by comparison if it ever leaked. Ben Graham recorded his conversations with his boss in May, and was fired by early July. He turned the audio over to Chad Livengood of “The Detroit News,” with the recordings capturing Courser ordering him to write an fictitious email to Republicans statewide saying the representative was caught having sex with a male prostitute in Lansing. Both he and Gamrat are married and frequently cite their Christian faith in describing what drives their legislative policies.
