A Cassopolis man suffered serious injuries on Friday morning after he jumped out of a moving car in Cass County’s Pokagon Township. The sheriffs department says that it happened on M-51 near Peavine Street around 11:30 AM. Responding deputies determined that the driver, 20 year old Abigail Smith, from Niles, and passenger 21 year old Drake Brewer, of Cassopolis, were arguing as they traveled northbound on M-51 when Brewer opened the passenger door and jumped out onto the roadway from the moving vehicle. Witnesses on scene corroborated that. Brewer was taken by ambulance to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac, and then airlifted to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo with serious injuries. Police say that alcohol does not appear to have been involved.
