Lakeshore Football players got a surprise on Thursday when the Lincoln Township Fire Department showed up to their practice space at Al Stockman Stadium, and ran them through a series of obstacle courses that simulate some of the things firefighters have to do. The fire department’s Griffin Ott says that they were subjected to a test similar to the Scott Firefighting Challenge with five different activity stations.

Ott says that the exercise was a chance for the players to learn some of the basic physical skills needed to be a firefighter. The fire department teamed up with the football program with the help of the Lakeshore Football Boosters. The fire department did keep safety in mind, making sure that firefighters were at each point to watch over the players, and there was a cooling station set up at the end of the course.
