MI Teens Get Taste Of State Police Training School

Over 100 high school students from around Michigan got to experience the life of a Michigan State Police recruit with a recent program that allowed them to receive special training at the trooper’s academy in Lansing. MSP Sergeant Michael McDonald says that 54 students selected by the American Legion and 51 picked by local Kiwanis clubs all over the state spent a full week living as though they were recruits.

McDonald says that the program is designed to teach the kids to go home and be good leaders among their classmates. They were picked for being highly motived and having an interest in pursuing law enforcement careers. The students came from all over Michigan.
