Benton Harbor Man Turns Self In For Fatal Shooting

A Benton Harbor man faces life in prison for a fatal shooting on June 14th. The Berrien County Prosecutor’s office says that 20 year old Devon Lewis, of Benton Harbor, was shot in the stomach following an argument with 23 year old Tyshawn Yates. Lewis was first taken to Lakeland Hospital, and later transferred to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he died of his injuries on June 26th. The prosecutor’s office says that Yates turned himself in on a warrant for open murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony firearm on Tuesday, at which time bond as set at one million dollars. He remains in the Berrien County Jail and has a preliminary exam set for August fourth.
