It’s the 42nd year for the event held at the Treemendous Fruit Farm, and it’s expected to attract hundreds of spectators and accomplished pit spitters who will compete for glory starting at ten AM. Competition coordinator Nancy Tipton says that you’d be surprised how far a pit can be spit.

Qualifying rounds will run Saturday from ten to noon, and then the championship starts at one PM. Tipton says that the spitters are positioned according to their height so that the tall folks don’t have an unfair advantage, and the contest is judged by actual Berrien County judges, including Judge Sterling Schrock.
