Groundbreaking Today For 9-11 Resiliency Plaza In Benton Harbor

A memorial to the 9-11 terror attacks will start to take shape this morning in Benton Harbor. Mayor James Hightower will be joined by Congressman Fred Upton and others including a dozen area firefighters in breaking ground on the 9-11 Resiliency Plaza at 201 East Wall Street. The steel beam that will be installed was recovered from the rubble of the World Trade Center after the terrorist attacks and was brought to Berrien County in 2010. The display is intended to honor the sacrifices of first responders involved on 9-11 and acknowledge the resiliency of our nation, its people and collective spirit.
