The cause of a fire at a McDonald’s restaurant in Dowagiac on Friday is under investigation. The Dowagiac Fire Department says that it was called to the business on Spruce Street around 8:45 PM on a report that the place was filling up with smoke. By the time firefighters arrived, all of the customers and employees had evacuated. Firefighters found that the blaze started in the women’s bathroom above one of the stalls. They managed to contain it to the ventilation system there, but had to remove several feet of duct work and ceiling materials to stop the fire from spreading. The exact cause of the fire is still not known. No one was injured in the incident.
