Lighthouse Project Might Have To Delay Catwalk Restoration

One company has submitted a bid to work on the St. Joseph lighthouses this summer. Assistant City Manager John Hodgson says it’s possible that the entire project to restore the sentinels might not happen this year.

The City Commission will have the contract with Mihm Enterprises of Hamilton on the agenda when it meets on Tuesday. The option exists of putting off the reconstruction of the catwalk until later years, as those are going to be more expensive and take about two weeks longer than the restoration of the lighthouses.

Hodgson says they also have to budget in 15% of the overall costs for unexpected problems that are likely to come up.
