The Michigan Secretary of State Mobile Office will visit Lake Michigan College this month.

LMC political science instructor Tiffany Bohm tells us as the director of LMC Votes, she reached out to the Secretary of State to arrange for the mobile office to make a stop at the college.

“The primary purpose of the visit is to assist with voter registration or to check voter registration to make sure it’s current, address is correct, all of the information, making sure that people have eligibility to vote at the election on November 3,” Bohm said.

The Secretary of State Mobile Branch Office allows customers to conduct the same transactions that they could at a permanent office. It travels all over the state visiting public events, community organizations, senior care facilities, shelters, community centers, and schools.

Bohm says with the elections coming up, she sees an eagerness among students to take part in the process.

“There is a lot of motivation to participate in the midterm election. We have a lot of interest and questions regarding candidates and issues and the ballot propositions and information like that.”

In addition to voter registrations, the Mobile Branch Office allows license and tag renewals, title transfers, and REAL ID issuance, among other things. It’ll be at the Lake Michigan College Benton Harbor Campus on Thursday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bohm says one bonus is that the mobile office will be there for everyone to use, whether they’re an LMC student or not.
