Lakeshore opened its season with a balanced offensive performance and a defense that forced four turnovers, pulling away for a 36-13 victory over Wayland. The Lancers produced 375 yards of total offense and scored in every quarter while limiting the Wildcats to just 28 passing yards.

Kaden Griffiths gave Lakeshore an early lead when he connected with Jonah Chavez for a 54-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Wayland moved ahead 7-6 midway through the second, but the Lancers responded with an 89-yard drive that took nearly six minutes off the clock. Griffiths finished the march with a one-yard quarterback keeper and then found Carter Siik for the two-point conversion, sending Lakeshore into halftime with a 14-7 lead.

The Lancers began taking control after the defense recovered a Wayland fumble at the Wildcats’ 33-yard line early in the third quarter. Four plays later, Chavez scored on a three-yard run before Griffiths completed a two-point pass to Brody Zech. Cruz Keim intercepted a Wayland pass later in the quarter, and Lakeshore turned that takeaway into a 68-yard scoring drive capped by Jake Keres’ 20-yard touchdown run early in the fourth.
