The Alliance for the Great Lakes is inviting everyone to take part in its annual Adopt a Beach cleanup effort next month as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.
The event also marks the 35th anniversary of the Adopt a Beach program, which focuses on removing plastic pollution from Great Lakes shorelines.
The Alliance says there will be several Lake Michigan beach cleanups taking place around Southwest Michigan in the coming weeks. They include events at Silver Beach on August 14, New Buffalo City Beach on August 20, and Jean Klock Park on September 12.
The Alliance for the Great Lakes is also asking people to host their own cleanups at beaches, parks, trails, and marinas. Training sessions for those who want to be team leaders will be offered on August 12 and August 27.
