MSP reports arrests in Niles Township for drugs, ghost gun crime

Two men face multiple felony charges following a narcotics and firearms investigation that culminated in a raid at a Niles Township residence, authorities said.

The MSP released a statement on Wednesday saying detectives with the Southwest Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on May 27 in the 2000 block of Miller Drive. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police Niles Post assisted in the operation.

During the search, investigators seized quantities of methamphetamine and suspected MDMA, also known as “molly,” in the form of orange pills. Authorities also recovered digital scales, packaging materials and other items associated with illegal drug distribution.

In addition to the narcotics, the MSP reports that detectives recovered ammunition and an pistol with no serial number, a type of firearm commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.”

Two male suspects, ages 37 and 41, both residents of Niles Township, were arrested and booked into the Berrien County Jail facing multiple felony charges related to the drugs and firearms.

Police have not released the names of the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
