Tigers 8, Rays 0 – Torres, Pérez and Greene go deep to back Flaherty as Tigers beat Rays 8-0
Gleyber Torres hit a leadoff homer, Wenceel Pérez and Riley Greene also went deep and the Detroit Tigers routed the Tampa Bay Rays 8-0. Jack Flaherty struck out six in five-plus innings for his first win since last September. Matt Vierling tripled, doubled and drove in two runs. The Tigers, who hit five homers Monday during a 10-9 victory in the opener of the three-game set, had lost eight consecutive series — their longest such streak since dropping nine straight in 2019. Detroit has won back-to-back games for the first time since May 2 and 3. Detroit also won its first road series since taking two of three games at San Diego to begin the season.
Twins 6, White Sox 4 – Twins beat Davis Martin and the White Sox 6-4 with a bottom-of-the-order barrage
Luke Keaschall and Tristan Gray drove in two runs apiece in a bottom-of-the-order attack for the Minnesota Twins in beating the Chicago White Sox 6-4 and delivering right-hander Davis Martin a rare loss. Keaschall, Gray and Alex Jackson each had two hits off Martin as the 29-year-old fell to 8-2. He lasted 4 2/3 innings in his shortest of 12 starts this season while allowing six runs on a career-most 10 hits and three walks. Connor Prielipp pitched into the seventh to match his longest start as a pro and earn the victory for the Twins.
Athletics 2, Cubs 1 – Gage Jump gets his 1st win as the Athletics beat the Cubs 2-1
Gage Jump pitched seven effective innings in his first major league win, and the Athletics beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1. Nick Kurtz homered for the A’s, who had lost seven of nine. Zack Gelof also drove in a run. Jump allowed three hits, struck out five and walked one in his second career start. The left-hander was brought up from Triple-A Las Vegas when Aaron Civale went on the 15-day injured list last week. The Cubs dropped to 5-17 in their last 22 games. They wasted a solid performance by Jameson Taillon, who surrendered two runs in 6 1/3 innings after going 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA in his previous three starts.

NBA – The NBA Finals will be a whole new world for many Knicks and Spurs
For a few hours on Tuesday, the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks held practices on a floor that had the NBA Finals logo painted at midcourt. They did interviews with the logo as a backdrop. They saw finals mentions basically everywhere they looked. It might have seemed normal. It wasn’t. This stage — the NBA Finals — is new to just about everyone on the Spurs and Knicks rosters, meaning very few players on either side can have any real idea of how the moment will seem on Wednesday night when the 80th title series in league history gets underway in San Antonio.

WNBA – Fever hope that team meeting helps players, coaches move on from sideline spat
Two-time WNBA All-Star Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White told reporters Monday they had moved beyond what appeared to be a sideline spat. Apparently, they weren’t just speaking publicly about the incident. On Tuesday, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham revealed the team’s players and coaches also had a frank, “long” conversation intended to hash things out and get everyone back on the same page following back-to-back losses on the West Coast. But with the Fever about to embark on defending last year’s Commissioner’s Cup title, the time for talking is over. They want to see a change Thursday night when they host Atlanta.
NCAA – SEC, Big Ten withhold support for bipartisan college sports bill
The two biggest conferences in college sports say they do not support the current version of a bipartisan bill designed to regulate an industry struggling for answers in a quickly changing era in which some players make millions. The Southeastern and Big Ten conferences said the “bill leaves critical issues unresolved,” including not “meaningfully” preempting state laws with a federal one. That has long been considered a key element for a measure to get support from the NCAA and the conferences. A Senate Commerce Committee hearing about the bill is scheduled for Wednesday.
NFL – Josh Jacobs practicing with Packers while prosecutors consider filing charges
Green Bay’s Josh Jacobs is practicing with the Packers while prosecutors consider whether to file charges against the three-time Pro Bowl running back following his arrest on domestic abuse allegations. Jacobs was on the field Tuesday for the Packers’ second week of organized team activities. Packers coach Matt LaFleur said before practice that Jacobs’ situation hasn’t caused distractions. Jacobs was arrested May 26 in Brown County, Wisconsin, on allegations of strangulation and suffocation and other offenses. Hobart/Lawrence Police Chief Michael Renkas said police had been dispatched to a complaint involving Jacobs on the morning of May 23.
NFL – Myles Garrett is the Rams’ latest prize in a decade of aggressive roster moves
For well over a decade now, general manager Les Snead and the Los Angeles Rams have consistently pulled off the aggressive, audacious moves that every NFL fan wishes their team would make. Their big trade for Myles Garrett is only the latest in a line of blockbuster deals. In the past 10 years alone, he has maneuvered to get Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, Jalen Ramsey, Von Miller, Trent McDuffie, Brandin Cooks and other veterans for trade prices that would have been too steep for many front offices. The Rams say they’re always trying to win now, but they’re also thinking about the future.
