A Dowagiac man is in custody following a multi-agency search warrant executed Tuesday afternoon targeting suspected firearms and narcotics activity.

According to Dowagiac Director of Public Safety Steven Grinnewald, officers from Dowagiac Police, the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team, and the St. Joseph Valley Special Response Team carried out the warrant around noon in the 100 block of Halstead Street. During the search, authorities say they recovered firearms, ammunition, accessories, as well as narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

A 37-year-old Dowagiac man was arrested on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Police say he also had outstanding warrants from both Dowagiac Police and Cass County and was taken into custody on those as well.

The investigation remains ongoing, and formal charges are pending review by the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect’s name is being withheld until arraignment in Cass County’s 4th District Court.
