TeQuin Charlys Butler, the second of five children, was born on October 20, 1966, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to the late Charles and Joyce Butler. On August 18, 2025, she departed this life to be with the Lord. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

At an early age, TeQuin gave her life to Christ at Union Memorial AME Church in Benton Harbor, where she was an active member of the Music Ministry singing in the choir for many years. After relocating to Texas, she continued her walk with Christ as a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church.

A proud Benton Harbor Tiger, TeQuin graduated with the Class of 1984. She cherished her Tiger family, rarely missing a basketball or football game. She attended Madonna College and later transferred to Andrews University, where she earned her Bachelor of Technology degree in Graphic Design 1997. Her professional career included 22 years at Harbor Graphics in Benton Harbor before she moved to Texas to be closer to her children.

Above all, TeQuin was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was blessed with two daughters: Tenecia Charlon Butler of Lewisville, TX, and Taryn Chanisse (Justin) Smith of Miami, FL and two precious grandchildren: Tamia Wheaton and Jor’el Smith.

TeQuin was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Joyce Butler, and her sister, Michelle Butler.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughters and grandchildren; three brothers, Charles (Angelique) Butler II of Decatur, GA, Zeric Butler of Benton Harbor, MI, and Shandar (Adriane) Butler of New London, CT; two nephews, Adrian Butler, OK,  Charles Butler III, GA; 4 nieces, Tammy Burkley, OK, Bria Butler, GA, Celestine Butler, MS and Sanaa Butler, CT; her dear friends Pamela Jones, Serina Morgan, Antionette Williams, Danielle Montgomery and Caroline Quinn; a special cousin Nikki Hudson; and a host of family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

TeQuin’s life was a testament to love, laughter, creativity, and faith. Her presence touched everyone she encountered, and her legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she blessed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
