The two residents of a trailer in Bangor Township of Van Buren County safely evacuated their home when fire swept through it early Sunday morning.
South Haven Area Emergency Services tells us firefighters from the Bangor Community Fire Department, Columbia Township, Covert Township, and SHAES responded to the 5:02 a.m. alarm on County Road 687. The structure was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.
Awakened by smoke, the residents said they discovered fire around a window air conditioner. They safely evacuated along with a family dog. A second dog perished in the fire.
