George Daniel Hodge, a man whose zest for life and the open road could only be matched by the love he had for his family, passed away in the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan on June 11, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Osgood, Indiana, on February 28, 1947, to Albert and Vivian Lucille (Robinson) Hodge, George grew up with a spirit of adventure and a compassionate heart that made him beloved by all who knew him.

George graduated from Indiana Academy in Cicero, Indiana in 1966. After proudly serving his country as a Medic in the United States Army, he embarked on a career as a truck driver, a job that perfectly suited his love for travel. His passion took him to impressive lengths, driving his Harley Motorcycle through all but 13 of the lower 48 states. Beyond the roar of engines, George found serenity in birdwatching, connecting with nature’s quiet beauty. He particularly loved watching the birds and alligators during his winters in Florida. His favorite place to go was the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive.

George was a loving husband to his wife, Rolene Hodge, a partnership that blossomed with shared laughter and cherished moments. As a father to his two daughters, Teresa (married to Randy Quillen) and Tami Glaze-Hodge, he instilled values of courage and kindness. His legacy continued through his three stepchildren, Renee (Chris) Hallman, Raeann (Scott) Long, and Daniel Stepp, all of whom he embraced as his own.

George’s joy multiplied as he also became a grandfather. His grandchildren, Robin, Toby, and Kyler, and step-grandchildren, Elodie, Felix, Abigail, and Brecken, will forever carry forward his tales of the road and his unwavering affection.

He was predeceased by his loving parents and his siblings, Roberta Blackburn, Larry, and Gary Hodge. Their memory and influence carried through George’s actions and will endure in the values he passed down to his family.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing George will remember him as loving, kind, and undeniably adventurous. He embraced life’s journeys with enthusiasm and encouraged others to seek out their passions. George’s absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will live on through the stories shared by family and friends and the countless lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in George’s honor to Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, Michigan. A celebration of life will be held later in July.
