Emergency Shelter Services has opened its new resale shop in Benton Harbor. The ribbon cutting for ESS 6 Degrees Resale, previously known as 6 Degrees, was held this month. Emergency Shelter Services Director Reshella Hawkins tells us the store moved from its previous location on Main Street to 53 West Wall Street.

“We have clothing, we have gently used furniture, knickknacks, all kinds of things that we sell,” Hawkins said. “It’s really a nice, nice new facility.”

Hawkins says after COVID, they wanted a change, and she’s proud of the location she describes as clean, refreshing, and welcoming.

“All of the items that we receive are donated items from people in the community, and people are giving really nice items, gently used items for people to refurnish or replenish.”

Hawkins says the resale store is also a place for people to find help to avoid homelessness. All proceeds from sales go to Emergency Shelter Services. You can check out the new store now. It’s open Mondays through Saturdays.
