Miriam grew up in the Chicago area but spent most of her summers in Bethany Beach, Michigan. She graduated from Senn High School in Chicago and then attended North Park College where she obtained her associate degree in Business Administration. She received a Bachelor of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado State University. She was a member of the honorary Pi Omega Pi business education fraternity.

In 1958 she married Jim Seaholm. Over the next few years, they adopted their two children and provided a loving Christian home for them. They stayed in the Chicago area until retirement when they moved to Bethany Beach as their permanent home. A few years after Jim died, she moved to Rockford, IL. She was involved in many activities and events there. Many of her lifelong friends also lived in the same retirement community which made her time there extra special.

Miriam’s relationship with her Lord was most important to her, having accepted him as Savior at age 10 and being baptized at the Edgewater Baptist Church in Chicago. She spent one year in home missionary work with the Baptist General Conference, in God’s Invasion Army and two additional years in the office of Home Missions. In addition, she served on the auxiliary boards of Evangelical Child and Family Services, Sunny Ridge Home for Children and Fairview Baptist Home.

Miriam was a talented piano and organ player as well as a singer. She faithfully served in the music ministry of the churches they attended thru the years. She continued playing piano regularly until just a few years ago, often playing hymns from memory. She recently played again and could still remember some of the hymns that meant the most to her. Music was her way of communing with God and growing in her faith.

Over the years, Miriam worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, and business education teacher. She was also a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Miriam traveled to many places in the US with Jim and then later traveled with her sisters. They had some special trips overseas and met many of their Swedish relatives.

For the last couple of years, Miriam has lived in Bridgman, Michigan and has been able to spend time with many of her family members who either lived nearby or were able to easily visit. She appreciated being able to visit again the area that has meant so much to her since childhood and where she had many happy memories.

She is survived by her daughter Cherie (Paul) Larson and her son John Eric Seaholm, granddaughters Emily (Andrew) Elliott, Sarah (Steven) Dutton, and Rebecca (John) Wade, along with great-grandchildren Koa, Oakley, and Asher Dutton and Nathan and Callie Elliott, as well as an unborn great grandson along with many special extended family members. A special thanks to nieces Betty Switzer, Marcia Anderson, and Mary Ann Skahn for their special care for her over the last few years.

Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, Helge and Anna Erickson, her husband, James Seaholm, and her sisters Dorothy Erickson, Florence Brown, and Pearl Magnuson.

Arrangements entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.
