The Berrien County Parks Department and police are investigating after someone stole the statue of Madeline Bertrand from Madeline Bertrand County Park last week. The bronze sculpture was broken off at the ankles between when the park closed on March 15th and the next morning. It was created by local artist Tuck Langland in 1987. Madeline Bertrand was the daughter of a Potawatomi chief and French fur trader Joseph Bertrand and was born in the early 1800s.
