The state’s top medical doctor says Michigan has been through a collective trauma and the last three years since the first cases of COVID-19 hit have been exhausting. Chief medical executive Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian says a lot of people feel like it’s been a decade, not just three years that we’ve been dealing with COVID-19.
“It’s been hard, it’s been challenging for a lot of us,” Bagdasarian said. “Many of your listeners have lost loved ones or have missed out on occasions they would have otherwise celebrated because of the pandemic, and I think the inclination is to put it behind us and forget about it and move on. I’m actually hoping that we can take some of the lessons we have learned from COVID and incorporate them into our lives.”
Bagdasarian hopes we take some of the lessons learned and incorporate them into our everyday lives when dealing with the flu. She also says people should be getting vaccinated not only for COVID-19, but for the flu. She’s not expecting any major surges in the immediate future.
