Set for February 11 is the Wilson Chandler Shoot Out at Benton Harbor High School. Hosted by NBA veteran Wilson Chandler, the event will be a basketball tournament featuring teams from all over the state competing in five games. Chandler told WSJM’s Jonny Reinhardt he grew up in Benton Harbor and wants to recapture some youthful memories while giving opportunities to local players.
“We’re bringing more teams, so that’s more exposure for players in our area,” Chandler said. “We have Mattawan coming, Benton Harbor, Kalamazoo Central, but we also have teams from Chicago, we have guys from Detroit, guys from Grand Rapids. So, I think it’s bring exposure. We’ve got top teams coming, some of the best players in the state.”
Chandler says the proceeds from the event will go to local projects. First among them will be a new basketball court at the Blossom Acres housing development. Tickets to the event are $10 and it will run from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday. You can get tickets here.
