Whirlpool and the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency are preparing for their seventh-annual Holiday Food Sharing Program. The two work with the city of Benton Harbor and the PGA to help those in need during the holidays. The Holiday Food Sharing Program collects and distributes around 400 food boxes and turkeys to residents and families each year. Since the program’s founding in 2015, the SMCAA has helped more than 2,800 families in Benton Harbor, Benton Township, and St. Joseph. Distribution of the turkeys and food boxes will be Thursday, December 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. and families can apply now. The applications can be picked up at several organizations locally, including the United Way, Benton Harbor City Hall, and the Salvation Army. They can be dropped off at the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency or sent in via email. We have a complete list of application locations and how to submit applications at our website.

Applications need to be turned in to SMCAA by Friday, December 16, 2022. Applications may be returned in the following manner:
