Light Up The Bluff This Friday In Downtown St. Joseph

It will be a busy weekend in downtown St. Joseph as Light Up the Bluff is Friday and the Reindog Parade is Saturday. St. Joseph Today’s Amy Zapal tells us Light Up the Bluff is when the city turns on all of the Christmas decorations it’s installed around the downtown area.

“It’ll be a beautiful night,” Zapal said. “One million holiday lights will transform Lake Bluff Park into a gorgeous wonderland for everyone to enjoy. That’s the first day of it, and it actually goes all the way through February, but that first night is so special.”

The St. Joseph High School Choir will be there to provide music. Zapal says the evening will also feature Window Wonderland downtown as local shops set up winter displays in their front windows and the public can vote on their favorites. The Reindog Parade is Saturday starting at 3 p.m. when people dress up their dogs and parade them down State Street.

“It is just such a happy, wonderful day when people are just happy to be together and happy to celebrate something and be a little silly and whimsical. It’s just lovely to be around.”

Zapal says people get creative with the costumes for their dogs. She also notes Santa will be stationed in his house downtown with Mrs. Claus following the parade. Sunday will bring the Holiday Artisan Fair at Union Social from noon to 4 p.m. You can find out more at St.JoeToday.com.
