Game Three Of World Series Tonight
The Philadelphia Phillies play host to the Houston Astros for Game Three of the World Series tonight. Each team came away with a victory after the first two games in Houston, making this World Series now a best-of-five. Noah Syndergaard is slated to get the ball for the Phillies. The 30-year-old right-hander is making his second career start in a World Series game. Syndergaard pitched six innings in a win for the New York Mets back in 2015. Lance McCullers Jr. is expected to get the start for the ‘Stros in Game Three. McCullers has two games of experience pitching in the World Series.

Lions Blow Lead, Lose To Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa threw a go-ahead, 11-yard touchdown pass to Mike Gesicki late in the third quarter, capping the Miami Dolphins’ rally from a double-digit, second-half deficit for a 31-27 win over the Detroit Lions. The Dolphins have won two straight since Tagovailoa returned from a concussion. The Lions have lost five in a row. Detroit scored on all five of its possessions in the first half to lead 27-17 after scoring a total of six points in its previous two games. The Dolphins opened the second half with a touchdown drive, scoring when fullback Alec Ingold took a snap that fooled the defense and scored on a 1-yard sneak.

Cowboys Destroy Bears
Tony Pollard exploded for 131 rushing yards and three touchdowns as the Cowboys crushed the Bears 49-29 in Arlington. Pollard helped seal the win with a 54-yard touchdown with over 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Dak Prescott also rushed for a score, along with throwing for 250 yards and two TDs. Dallas improved to 6-and-2. Justin Fields completed 17-of-23 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Chicago combined to rush for 240 yards, but fell to 3-and-5 with the loss. The Bears have dropped four of their last five.

Commanders Edge Colts
Taylor Heinicke led a game-winning drive as the Washington Commanders beat the Indianapolis Colts 17-16 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Heinicke threw a 33-yard pass to Terry McLaurin to get Washington to the one-yard line with under a minute left in regulation and then scored the game-winning touchdown on a quarterback sneak the very next play. Heinicke added 279 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and an interception in the win. Washington has won its last three to improve to 4-and-4. Sam Ehlinger had 201 passing yards in his first career start. The Colts are 3-4-and-1 after losing their last two contests.

Pistons Beat Golden State
Saddiq Bey scored 28 points, Cade Cunningham was an assist short of a triple-double and the Detroit Pistons beat the defending champion Golden State Warriors 128-114 on Sunday night to end a five-game losing streak. Cunningham had 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to help the Pistons won for the first time since their opening game. Isaiah Stewart added 24 points and 13 rebounds as Detroit’s starters scored 111 points. Steph Curry had 32 points and Jordan Poole added 30 for Golden State, coming off a 120-113 overtime loss in Charlotte on Saturday.

MSU Suspends 4
Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker has suspended four players for their role in roughing up Michigan players in a stadium tunnel after losing a game. Tucker announced Sunday night that linebacker Tank Brown, safety Angelo Grose, defensive end Zion Young and cornerback Khary Crump were suspended immediately. Scuffles broke out in the Michigan Stadium tunnel after fourth-ranked Wolverines beat the Spartans 29-7 Saturday night. Social media posts showed at Michigan State players pushing, punching and kicking Michigan’s Ja’Den McBurrows in and near a hallway that doesn’t lead to either locker room. Brown, Grose and Young are seen on video getting physical with McBurrows.

Christopher Bell Wins At Martinsville
Christopher Bell is claiming his spot in next weekend’s NASCAR championship race. Bell won the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway to secure his spot in the final four. Bell will be joined by Joey Logano, Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain in the final race of the Cup Series in Phoenix. Elliott snuck into the field after he outmaneuvered several other racers on the final lap. The moment went viral as Elliot pinned his car against the outside wall to climb from 10th place to a fifth-place finish. Chastain got into the final four by driving full throttle against the wall through turns three and four to beat Denny Hamlin.

St. Joseph Bears 49, East Grand Rapids 10

Bears Advance In Playoffs
St. Joseph running back Joron Brown scored a pair of rushing touchdowns. He added one receiving touchdown and even threw for a score as St. Joseph defeated East Grand Rapids 49-10 Friday night at Dickinson Stadium. In addition, he intercepted one pass and forced and recovered a fumble to set up another score. St. Joe advances to the District Championship game Friday against Zeeland West. The game at Dickinson Stadium kicks off at 7:00 pm and will be heard live on News/Talk/Sports 94.9 WSJM starting at 6:35 pm.
