An event to show southwest Michigan high school students some of the career pathways available to them will be held next month by Michigan Works and Berrien RESA. Michigan Works Business Solutions Manager Paul Brohman tells us around 45 employers will be at LMC’s Mendel Center with booths and hands-on activities to show the students what’s available locally.

“We want to keep this homegrown talent local, not to move away, and events like Career Pathway Day can truly open a student’s eyes about what interests them,” Brohman said. “Maybe it’s something they’ve never even thought about before, and they say, ‘Hey, this is happening in my hometown, in my backyard. I want to know more about it.'”

Brohman says the day will focus on six areas of employment.

“Career pathways in those sectors include health services. We’re going to look at agriculture science, arts and communications, business marketing and technology, human services, and then engineering, manufacturing, and industrial technology.”

Career Pathway Day 2022 will take place on Friday, October 28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with around 2,000 students. Michigan Works teamed up with RESA’s CTE program to organize the outing for students. Any employers who would like to take part should contact Michigan Works.
