Emergency orders issued by the state’s executive branch would only be able to last 28 days without legislative approval after House passage of several bills. The last 23 of a 30-bill package were approved mostly on party lines yesterday. Republican lawmakers were furious in 2020 due to Governor Whitmer’s emergency orders for COVID-19 because they didn’t have a say in it. Whitmer is likely to veto the bills if they pass the Senate.
