Ida B Meeks was born in the County of St. Francis, Township of Garland in Heth, Arkansas on June 1, 1932, to Earnest and Estella Hester.  She entered Heaven’s gates on September 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Ida B Meeks was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Second Baptist church for many years, where she served faithfully until her illness prevented her.

Ida B. was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, homemaker, friend, and entrepreneur. Ida was a remarkable cook and enjoyed cooking for her friends and family.   She was very active with the Second Baptist church pastor’s aide society and was on the mother’s board.

She co-owned and operated Quik Way Party Store and most especially loved cooking at Ida’s Soul Food Chicken.  The broasted chicken and potatoes were the bomb. The Gizzards and ranch dressing was unforgettable.  The weekly special everyone looked forward to.

She was loved and respected by her community and was a mother to the neighborhood.  Always willing to give her stern advice in a loving manner. She believed in the power that it takes a Village to raise a child.

She truly shared a special love for her partner in crime Earnest Hester Jr. her best friend and brother.

She is survived by her children, John (Belinda) Meeks, Donnie (Barbara) Meeks, Cora “Jenny Meeks” Robinson, and Michelle (Clift) Scales, 18 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Gloria (Roy) Shurn, Doris (Frank) Cooper, and Russell Hester. She knew that she was a star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her behind many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her very much.

Ida B. is preceded in death by her husband John E. Meeks, and sons Wendell, Bernard, Dwight, and Gregory Meeks. Her parents Earnest and Estella Hester and her brothers, Earnest and Alfred Hester.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
